Banovallum School

Careers

At Banovallum School we adopt a strong focus on preparing our students for the next stages of their education and their future career paths. The careers programme starts from Year 7 and gathers momentum considerably in Year 9 with our annual Careers Convention.

We also involve students with our Stop The Clock events, which allow each student to take part in a careers interview with a member of staff to discuss ideas and aspirations for the future. Tailored guidance is then arranged to schedule careers and further education visits and application assistance. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend where possible.

Banovallum employs an independent advisor for students who are unsure about their next steps.

Banovallum careers programme is Baker Clause compliant, providing a range of independent advice from a wide range of agencies such as Lincoln College, Boston College, ASK Apprenticeships, Sixth Forms, Riseholme College in addition to a selection of local employers.

Appointments can be arranged through Mrs Priestner, you can telephone her at school or email her for assistance or more information.

We are delighted to be partnered with our Enterprise Adviser, Niki Shepheard, from Economic Development at East Lindsey District Council.

To support our delivery of careers, we have links with a number of educational institutions, training providers and employers who contribute to our careers programme through:

  • raising aspirations and increasing motivation – helping young people identify educational and occupational goals
  • demonstrating the relevance of the knowledge and skills learnt in subjects to future opportunities in learning and working
  • demonstrating the links between living, learning and earning

If you feel you could support the school with our careers programme please do get in contact.

  • Below are a few examples of how you could support our careers programme:
  • Mock interview day with year 10
  • Supporting work regarding the importance of a CV
  • Providing talks about your industry/sector
  • Allowing a group of learners to visit your place of work
