Celebrate with us as our secondary schools in Horncastle release this year’s results. CEO of Horncastle Education Trust, Sandra James said “Once again there is much to be proud of, students at both our secondary schools worked hard, aimed high and achieved well. Results such as these reflect the dedication and support provided by staff and parents/carers working together in partnership, however, the moment truly belongs to our students.
“Huge congratulations to all our young people from Banovallum who are celebrating GCSE results, and from QEGS who celebrate both A Level and GCSE results. We wish you every success in the next stage of your journey and look forward to seeing you in Sixth Form or hearing about your adventures when you revisit us as alumni.”
Banovallum celebrated potentially its best ever set of GCSE grades when the Year 11 students came in to collect their GCSE results. Almost all students secured their first choice of destination after Banovallum, securing places at local colleges and sixth forms as well as starting employment and apprenticeships.
Headteacher Grant Edgar said, “I am delighted with the results particularly as this cohort had their early years at Banovallum disrupted by Covid and its immediate aftermath. That they have produced such an outstanding set of results is tribute to their maturity, commitment and hard work. Their success is also down to the continuing excellence of the Banovallum staff, all of whom work tirelessly to secure the best outcomes for our students.
“All our subjects performed strongly but I was especially pleased with the results in English and Maths; Business Studies; Food Technology; Geography; History and Performing Arts. Special mention must also go to our Sports Science results which were the best ever for that subject. An achievement made all the more remarkable by the fact that we do not have a Sports Hall on site.
“The following students also performed significantly above their target grades and again I can’t praise them highly enough for their efforts over the last few years: Kirstie Graves; Ruby Cairns; Ed Chambers; Henry Boswell; Holly Tyrell; Ben Wilson; Katie Hodgson; Jessie Smith; Oonagh Monaghan; Liv Summers; Clark Williams; Helaina Wold; Max Danby; Krzystof Szymanski; Sam Saxby and Ed Evison. All of whom were approximately a grade or more above their target grades. Special congratulations to Kirstie who was on average almost three grades above her targets. A number of other students also exceeded their target grades, and they too can be proud of their achievements: Clark Williams; Arthur Morley; Ashton Clark; Isaac Spiers; Bertie Crawford; Harley Grant; Niamh Armsby; Max Harland; Daisy Brabyn; Marla Bell; Evie Wilkinson; Eddy Gill and Leo Clark-Emmerson. Special mention must also go to Ethan Dalgleish who secured six GCSEs and Kseniia Trofymenko who secured 5 GCSEs as well as continuing with the Ukrainian curriculum.
“A number of students secured Grade 9s, placing them in the top 5% of the subject nationally which is a phenomenal achievement: Luke Etches (Art); Ben Wilson (Business Studies); Kirstie Graves (English Language & Performing Arts); Katie Hodgson (English Language); Oliver Brooks and Heidi Fitzpatrick (both Sports Science). Our share of the top grades 9 – 7 was also amongst the best we have ever achieved with 113 results being achieved in this bracket.
